View Full Version : Early morning hunt...

I got out at sun up for an hour of hunting. Skunked on the silver, but recovered a couple of interesting items.

Questions...

Anyone recognize the hallmarks on the ring? I couldn't find anything helpful online. I would kind of assume the ring is 14k but based on the level of corrosion around the middle of the ring, I doubt it is solid gold. Definitely some kind of corroded material between the two sides of the ring. Why would there be such a nice set of hallmarks (3 crowns, 14, E- which should denote a date) on a junk ring? :ticked:

Any ideas on the pin pictured with the wheats? Is it military issue? Seems kind of plain to wear as jewelry.

Unfortunately I can't clean the item with the portrait in it... if I do, the photo will crumble. Whatever it is... it is caked in dirt. Kind of neat though.

According to the internet the three crowns are for Swedish Gold.

I wouldn't be so quick to pass it off as Junk ... there may of been something next to it, that when it corroded it attached itself to the gold.. I would take it to a jeweler and get it tested.

Nice find By the way... I found the same sweden gold...

That's a very good hour hunt. thumbsup01 Plenty of old wheat cents and a few other neat items. The one with the portrait is cool. It does look very fragile.

Congrats on a great hunt! I think you have a real gold ring there. they don't stamp junk, not worth the expense. As for the ribbon.... It's possible it may be military, but I've never seen one like it. The way it's pointed in the top / bottom middle area seems to deflect away from it being military also.

Cool stuff :clapping: That portrait is eerie though :shocked01: He keeps looking at me lol If it's a gold ring, a bit of electrolysis should shed that junk that is layered on to it. Nice, different finds.

Thats cool that you can still see the portait, really adds a human element to what you find. Great ring too, heck for an hour that's awsome!
