Finally, my wifes big mouth came in handy! lol She was talking to a woman who came
into the flower shop to order flowers. They got to talking about their husbands (i'm one of them) being retired. She asked what i was doing now that i'm retired? My wife said i was metal detecting. Then she says my husband does too! He's got like 4 of those detectors. So my wife tells her to have her husband call me. He did! And this morning i met with him at a coffe shop along with another guy that hunts with him. We all brought our finds with us. Their finds were alot cooler than mine. Anyhow, they live in the next town over about a 15 minute drive. When i get back from down south we'll
get together for some hunting. So now i got new buddies close to home.

thumbsup01 That's terrific. Gotta find some locals in northern Minnesota that hunt. I know there are folks around, but finding them in the winter isn't the easiest thing to do.

Cool, always nice meeting new fellow detectorists. Plus sometimes a little friendly compition when hunting can bring up some pretty cool finds.

That's fantastic! Yeah, I think it's so much more fun hunting with buddies. I helped start a local club about 6 months ago and it's going great. We had a big group hunt in the fall (weekend/camping) and lots of smaller group hunts since then.

It's nice to find people near you that enjoy freezing and getting rained on while digging holes and getting filthy. And although i'm not wanting to horn in on the good places they hunt. They have found a place where they are digging up three ring bullets. I told my wife that i wouldn't find stuff like that in this area as there were no battles here. But apparently there was a training camp or something. I would love to dig up one of those! Mitch, who originally called me had a nice display box with his finds in it. Lots of nice old silver coins, tokens, bullets and some jewlery and odds and ends he found. He uses an older Garrett's detector and he must know it very well! So as long as my happy dance :happydance01: doesn't make them sick (if i find something to dance about)
i think we'll have some good hunts together. <:

my wifes big mouth had never been something that has helped me out . as a matter of fact i think that thing may have missed a factory recall at some point. it never stops. the cutoff switch is faulty im sure of that . but ,,, cheaper to keeper
