Howdy Folks!
Contrary to anything resembling common sense, I set about on my first snow hunt of 2011 today. I made a video of my outing, and even ventured into Mordachai territory. The temperature was around 23 degrees with a 12 mph wind, making for a windchill somewhere around 10 to 15 degrees or thereabouts.

I found my first wheat penny of the year today, but aside from that, didn't get much.
Found a cheapie ring, some clad, a Canadian dime, but no real jewelry today.

Made me a video of my outing so ya'll could tag along with me on this hunt, and toward the end you'll see that I promote American Detectorist Forum with a great deal of enthusiasm.

January Snow Hunt 2011.mp4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y96RAhMCWU#)

My take was downright pitiful, but then again, I wasn't out very long either.
4 Quarters = $1.00
3 Nickels = $0.15
3 Dimes = $0.30
17 Pennies = $0.17
Total = $1.62
Coin Count = 27 Coins.

Now I'm home, all warm and toasty, but paying a price as my knee is screaming bloody murder!

Thanks for Looking,
Blessings,
M-Taliesin

Howdy Folks!
A real big thank you for your encouraging words! Much appreciated, to be sure.
On another note, my knee swolled up pretty big after that hunt. Hopefully it will subside some when I sleep tonight.

Ya'll might get that I'm real enthusiastic about American Detectorist. You might think Wow, is this guy happy to be here? or maybe That man sure does love the AD forum! or perhaps Man alive, does that boy suck up or what? Trust me when I say, my enthusiasm is genuine! This is a terrific forum and I have been telling everyone I know about it! All two of 'em!

Blessings,

Thanks for taking us along Mel! That was fun  In the beginning, Gator was like alright already, it's cold out here, let's #$%@ go... lol

I almost got out there in the snow today for some hunting- got an email from a friend who's hubby had lost his wedding ring in the snow last night. I was looking forward to the challenge this morning, when they wrote back that they'd already found it... :ticked:

I can't grab a detector without him beating me to the front door. He surely does love tagging along.

Not knowing where you live, snow hunting can be tougher in other parts of the country.
Some of that stuff can lay to the ground like cement. Or that heavy wet stuff that leaves you soaked in about 10 minutes flat. That ain't no fun. But for my hunting in winter, poweder is just fine.

Well, okay, they found the ring. Ya still coulda got out in the snow and hunted don'cha know?

Howdy Diggler!
Ever been to Wyoming?
................................................He llo?
Any other big rivers on this trip? Only the Colorado! Only the biggest %#^$&# river I've ever seen in my life, thank you very much!

Do you know how few people understand those references? Gotta be the most wonderful movie nobody ever heard of ever made! Thanks for the shpadoinkle moment! Much obliged. Got me all grinnin'. Of course Al Packer is a legendary figure here in Colorado, and I am thankful to Trey and Matt for giving us a movie we could really sink our teeth into, full of biting satire with plenty of historical meat on the bone for folks to gnaw on!

Please, stop me before I pun again!

And I wanted to say I really love your avatar! First time I saw that, I had to call my wife in from the kitchen to see it herself. We got got a real kick out of that one!

Blessings,
And a shpadoinkle day to you!
I know, we can build a snowman.
If you build one for me, I'll build one for you!
We can name him Bob, or we can call him Beowoulf!

I experienced some cement ground last winter- talk about disappointment to get a good deep signal and not be able to get to it! :bangahead01: I marked one with a rock and a week or so later dug a clad quarter woo hoo lol Well, it coulda been some silver!

Howdy Tanacat!
I don't think Mordachai is the kind of kid you'd find hanging around a school on Sunday!
My impression of the little imp is that he ain't the scholarly type anyhow! LOL!

Another great video Mel.
Found a nice tot lot last week. Was looking forward to a side by side
comparison of my XLT (fresh outa rehab) and my V3i. Seems like mother nature had other
ideas....she just dumped over 24 ins. of snow in our area!! That was on top of the 14 ins.
we got last week  Looking forward to an early Jan. thaw!

Howdy Rich!
We don't have nearly that much on the ground here in Colorado, but do have us some.
The front range doesn't get pounded like the high country. But still, we get some real good
dumps now and then.

After a week of snow and cold, we are headed for the 50's by the weekend. Another storm
is headed this way, but I'm hoping I can do some detecting (perhaps today) before the
trip to Texas commences. Me and Pipster are heading south, and we intend to plunder the
place good and proper!

Sorry to hear about all that snow back east, and it seems real aggressive this year for some
reason. Some guy on a midnight radio show talked about how we're moving into another ice
age, and with snow now on the ground in 49 states, he may be onto something. All I can say is,
the more cold I endure, the more alluring Texas looks to me.

Blessings,
M-Taliesin

Love that positive attitude!
Getting out of the snow is good.
Plunder is even better.
Good luck to you guys....come back rich!

Howdy M-T,
Just watched your Video.
Good Stuff my friend,
But, now I feel like a baby hidin in the house, stayin warm.
I'm pretty far North of you as you know, and heck , we had a meltoff a week ago,
But after the melt, we got down in the zero's again.
I tell ya, the ground is froze hard.

Well, I tell ya, your videos do give a guy some motivation.
Next time it snows, I'm goin detecting. LOL Not really

You keep it up, you have to be in good shape for that operation.
I sure hope that goes well for ya.
Like I said before, You are in our prayers.

So, keep us updated.

Your Friend,
Dusty
