Hidy Heavymetal. About time I got yo eye. Yep as soon as I get them old dark coins home they go in the jewelry cleaner & then the jewelry polishing cloth , I like mine shiney and clean. The 34,,39,, and the three spanish coins came from Moscow, Ky. all not far from each other. Camp Desha. Yal are finding some good stuff. I would like to find some good stuff but bullets and a few buttons and coins is about it around here. I just ant got in the right place yet. Thanks for looking and hope you all find the BIG one some day. And keep them good finds comeing !!!!!

hey CWN that 34 capped bust , look at the bottom of the 8 is it partially filled in or is it my eyes  i have found an 1834 capped bust half dime as well and the bottom of the 8 on mine is definately filled in but i just thought it was maybe damaged to look that way but if yours is the same we might have somekind of error coin and i don't think its listed . check it out and tell me what you think and i'll see if i can get a picture of mine to compare.

Hidy DEL. I findly found it and it sure is. The 39 ant like that. Here are some pic. Let me know what you find out. My books dont show anything. The top part of the 5 is half gone also, unless that is the way its made.

heres a picture of mine , not even close in detail as yours but look at the bottom of the 8 does it look the same as yours  as i said i haven't seen a variety with ths type of error . i can't tell about the 5 on the back as the hole takes out that part of the coin .

I believe what both you chaps have is an 1834 capped bust dime listed as Breens #2997 - 1834 3 over reversed 3. In the early strikes you can see the upside down 3 better. I can see evidence of it on Dan's coin since it's a close up shot. Look at both the knobs on the end of the three. There will be evidence that each one connects to the center of the three. In the late stages of the dies (production) a lump in the 8 is caused from a chipping die. So I'm pretty sure you have a re-engraved error die.

Hidy del. Cnut. is right. I can see the 3 under yours. And I got my Cama. out and blowed mine up 16X and can see the 3 under mine. How about that. Ant no telling what all I got all over this house. I just clean it up and put it in with all my good coins in the 1800s.

Yep, if you got the chipped die (resulting in a filled 8 ), you have the incorrectly engraved (upside down) 3. They corrected the 3 but when the die strikes, the pressure shows the remnants of the wrong direction 3. Great error coins guys!!
