Howdy diggers,

Did I mention we have a foot of snow on the ground:huh: :frozen:

I went to 13 banks today. Since it is Saturday, they are only open 9-12 so I had to move quickly! The first 6 banks said they had no halves. Bank #7 had 2 rolls so I bought them. When I got to the car, I opened them up. The first roll had a 1967 and the other had a 1965. Two rolls, two silvers! Another bank (#9, I think) sold me $100 worth. She had more, but said she couldn't let them all go. I ended up getting a 1966 and a 1967 out of them. As a bonus, I found a 1990 S proof too! :happydance01:

I was headed over to the auto center and saw a bank right next door. It was 5 minutes to 12:00 so I figured what the heck and dashed in. The teller was getting ready to close up and I asked her if she had any halves. She pointed to her tray and said all I have is what has come in today. I looked at her tray (the coins are all on edge) and I could clearly see 2 silvers! I told her I will buy them all. She had exactly 20 so I quickly gave her a $10 bill. I didn't look at them til I got to the car, but one was a 1964 and the other was a 1967.

3 banks told me they couldn't give me any halves because I didn't have an account there.

Here is a couple pics, thanks for looking and HH!!

That's cool...

So do you roll them back up to return them? How does that work out...I have thought about doing that but never have...

Last week I asked at my bank if they had any halves and they didnt. Next week when I cash my paycheck I will ask again. Seems like a good thing to do during winter months. Congrats on the silver finds!

Nice bunch of big silver :happydance01: :happydance01: I can't believe someone would spend a proof

I read someones post last week about buying halfs and looking for silver, well I tried it a couple days ago, I bought $100.00 worth of halfs and got nada on the silver, I guess you just have to time it right, I think it was your post that got me going on this.

That's a good question. No need to roll them. I take them all to my bank and feed them into the coin machine (it's like a coinstar, but more heavy duty). It prints out a receipt and I take that to the cashier, who gives me my money. Then I take that money and go buy more halves at other banks.

I hit 5 banks here in Florida. None had any halves. Or they are just saying that cuz they know why i'm asking!
