Well I couldn't take it any more !!
So yesterday I got out while it warmed up to a warm feeling 32* lol
I knew the ground was frozen solid so I picked a old farm house that's not lived in anymore. The owner pulled up and said We got a call someone was down here. So I figured I'd come down and see if you were finding anything ! lol He said You know the grounds frozen don't you? lol
It was kind of a toy day with a yellow jet plane and a couple cars, a jeep and a purple VW Bug !!And the Bug is a Tootsie !! Also got a little clad and a neet little box. with a picture of a wash tub, wash board, and close hanging on a close line. I can't figure out what the box was for?

Here's some pictures of the bug while it was locked up in the frost .

But the find of the day came about 45 minutes into the hunt. I found my second military button, at least the old style buttons.
I'm not sure what it's called . I think it's a cuff button.
It's sitting on top of a nickle in the picture. There isn't any letters in the shield.

Not a bad day you had... you recovered some nice stuff. thumbsup01 Definitely worthy of another visit.

Congrats on getting out there. :clapping:

Thanks guys !! Yep there is about 1 1/2 feet of frost in the ground were the car is. There were a couple of holes I dug that there wasn't any frost. :dontknow: :clapping: The ground must of had a little better insulation in those spots thumbsup01

My first LC came from an old farm house. My oldest US silver,my 1814 capped bust dime, came from this one here  thumbsup01

Thanks Dan!! So you'd date the button mid to late 1800's ? Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Is it pretty common for a cuff button to not have a makers marks?

Tim i would say its 1870's-90's in age and if its smaller than a dime in diameter than its a cuff sized button

:clapping: Love your button! :smitten: I bet you shook/checked the box right away.. too bad there weren't coins in it
It's really cool- looks old, the way it has a washboard on it. Maybe it's Antique Roadshow material. you never know! lol

Hey, that VW Bug just might have a chance at winning our upcoming contest lol Or do you already have one lined up? Today's the day! Off to check for Judy's thread. Glad you got out for a hunt!

Button Look like a #188 shield button or #189 smaller. The commonest button found on Civil War sites, the war time eagle. Were produced by the hundreds of thousands and were used for years after the war.

I shot some video of this hunt but never published it. I was playing around with the new windows 7 movie maker and put it on the Tube.
So I put the video in the thread and put it in the video forum. So here it is:
