Only if I get into a stretch where I have detected numerous times in a row without a recoup time for the knees

Nope. The discomfort of the elastic is more than the comfort of padded knees. But I do use an oversized dirt towel, and usually put a knee on there to avoid grass stains.

I always use them- it helps keep the grass stains off the 'ol bluejeans...

Oh wait, people pay GOOD money for them grass stains now-a-days lol rofl

I've tried several kind and my fave now are made of a hard styrofoam material. Really good for the rainy/snowy days.

on left knee only if wearing long pants. Don't try it wearing shorts. I did and I all of a sudden noticed I was bleeding from the strapes rubbing on my :stretcher: skin.

Who worries about grass stains...

Head to the thrift shop... but 3-4 pair of blue jeans a just a little big so they are comfy and beat em up... I never pay more than a few bucks a pair... and I never wear knee pads...

I said sometimes, but it's really rarely lol I can't find a comfortable pair that doesn't bind or slip off. So I just sacrifice the old jeans. But a couple of times kneeling on small rocks and the old knees tell me OUCH :stretcher:

I use a small folded towel if the ground is wet, all the other times I just get dirty :beerbuddy:

I use them all the time. I have an arthritic hip and need to use a walking stick to help getting back up so the knee pads allow me to turn into the right position so my good leg can get me up.

I never use them unless the ground is real wet basically to keep the wet out. I seldom wear them in regular grass that's not too wet but when I'm around an old foundation in the woods I'll use them cause of the glass and stuff.

I don't use any, its just one more thing to slow me down(putting them on) when I get there to detect.

Hey that's a pretty nifty idea! thumbsup01 I'm going to suggest that to a friend with back trouble, worth a try...

My detecting partner, Steve always wears knee pads and seems to be comfortable with them. I never wear knee pads because they make the backs of my legs sore and are always slipping down. What I do use is a foam garden pad. My pad is about 8x18 and has a handle built in. I don't even think about it anymore. I just carry it in my left hand, and it hits the ground just before my knees. If you try this, one gets pretty adept at the technique. Fingers crossed, I've never missed the pad with my knees.

I also use a foam garden pad.I've had the same one for over 4 years and it's big enough to get both knees on for a difficult dig. It's true that you don't hardly notice you are carrying it after a while.

thumbsup01 Yep every time I'm out. Unless I'm hunting a farm feild. Then I'll wear just one or none depending on how wet it is. And they come in handy in yards with pets. ;) lol It's easy to take off soiled knee pads after a hunt rather than a pair of soiled pants for the ride home. :barf: :barf: lol
