I'll brag on Dave he found 1897 IH & 1888 IH and 1900 V nickel too :clapping:

All 4 of our old coins were found w/in 10 ft of the big tree next to him.

Hunted this house built in late 1700's with friends Missy and Bill on Saturday. It was in the 60's and sunny 8) :happydance01:. The view from the house was nice, pond and Canada geese down below. The wheats are 1913, 1917 & 1920 I had fun photographing my finds lol Last shot is final take, anyone know what kind of buckle in the middle? The musket ball was a surprise- curious what the shield looking piece is... Thought for sure I'd find some silver there! Hopefully go back...

I have a buckle similar to that but mine has a star in the middle. Great nickel, you had to be pleased with that. If we ever go through Kentucky again i'll give you a shout out. Are you anywhere near Paducah? :angelic:

congrats on the first v nickel, something that eludes me still. i wonder if the shield thing is part of a door knocker? i have one similar on my front door.

Congrats on your FIRST V nickel :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: I think the ornate piece is the plate that sits behind a drawer pull. Not completely sure though . The buckle might be used like a Rosette was...to cover the ring on a horse harness?? Just some guesses. Nice houses for sure.

happydance02 :happydance01: <: congrats on the first V-nickle Tana happydance02 :happydance01: <:

what beautiful looking areas to detect at :envious: with so much history too.
great looking items the shield looking brass piece is indeed an escutcheon plate (ornate decorative plate ) from a piece of furniture like George said or similar . the brass buckle looks very close to a modern conway on a type of horse harness (they have varied some in the years) . hope you get more time at these places to find some more nice things .

Thanks dave :) I think the V nickel you just mailed me was good luck! I was about to mention it earlier and forgot  I hadn't noticed this 'blushing' smiley before lol

Good idea on trying to find the clothesline- a hot spot for sure  I did have success once, the poles were intact so it was a give away. I found a rosie and bunch of wheats.

Yeah maybe that's it- I did find a musketball there too... btw I found a militaires equipments button a while back 1 of 2 buttons attached to French bread bag/satchel made in 1897 I think it was... Now how'd that get here in central ky?
