Well, after getting a Fisher F4 at a garage sale 4 weeks ago. I got the bug. So 2 weeks ago I did a LOT of research on top end detectors. I finally decided on the V3i. Before getting the unit, I read, and read..and read.. along with watching Videos. By the time I actually got the unit, I felt I owned it for weeks. So when I got home.. I put it together..and drove to the school close by. I used the pre programmed CJ mode, without any tweaking. What a difference between the F4 and V3i. First thing I noticed is how much better it sorts out the trash. With the F4 I pulled a lot more screw caps. Also the depth right out of the box was impressive. I was pulling clad out from 8. I know I have a lot more to learn. But my first outing was a joy.

Sweeeet.... getting a ring on your first outing with it is a great sign of things to come,I'm liking my V3i just fine too, remember nickles laying with other coins give some weird numbers, just dig em anyway thumbsup01

You will be very happy on your detector choice. The V3/V3i really excels on pulling good targets out of trashy areas. I believe the potential for great depth is also a key feature on the V3/V3i. It may take a little longer to get the hang of the unit, but when everything starts clicking right you will find yourself pulling Silver right out in the middle of well hunted areas. Congratulations.
