I just made a setup for electrolysis that i saw on the internet. I got a 12 volt DC charger at the Goodwill store and hooked up the alligator clips. I tested it out on a crud covered IH penny i had.
My question, for anyone that has a setup for this is. Does the spoon and the coin both bubble with yours? I tried switching the clips from one to the other but they both still bubbled. I did use baking soda in the water instead of salt so it wouldn't make chloride gas. Could the baking soda make both poles bubble?
Any ideas?

I have never had both clips bubble. It may be the baking soda that reacts that way. If you are worried about the produced gas, just run it on a porch or outside. Unless it is a large unit in a confined space I would think the gas would be minimal?? :dontknow: Ventilation is key, I guess.

normally if the poles are reversed the spoon will bubble.. i use salt but had no idea that it produced a chloride gas ..... yikes .. guess all future cooking will be done outside
