I keep hoping that some day one will be in that hole!

I read the name of this thread and thought This is going to be a short thread!. I pretty much don't even have gold coin on the list of things to find, it just seems so out of reach. But then I remembered a gold coin panda ring I found and voted YES. Hope that counts, but I guess in the back of my mind I don't really count it. I guess U.S. currency is what I would consider finding a gold coin. Hope I didn't taint your poll. Curious to see the results...

Howdy Folks!
I've been hunting less than 4 years now, and found 2.
One a gold Panda coin, and the other a Mexican 2 1/2 Peso gold coin.

Blessings,

We have a member here, goes by MT, who made an amazing find of numerous gold coins in San Francisco! Not sure if he is still active here, but he has posted about this in other places. It was a number of years ago. Hope Montera Tom sees this and will share his story again! :cheering:

How many gold coins? Is that competition or in the field? I found eight gold coins in the one hour professional hunt along with $287 dollars (face value) of silver. In the field was a cache of Mexican coins, Also a $5, $10 in Houston and a small Panda and a 1/10 Krugerand. Last month or so, my grandson found a small Krugerand also.

Looking at the results of the poll and seeing that Paul has yet to find his first gold coin with all the detecting he does with his Etrac and the many years at it, doesn't give one a lot of encouragement. :(

However, that doesn't mean that we all can't find our first one around the next corner.....LOL :daydream:

My uncle found a five dollar gold piece in about 1935 when he was twelve. That's about as close as I've gotten. He traded it at a local hardware store for a BB gun. He used the BB gun to shoot Robins. He sold the Robins to the Italians in his small town for a nickel each. People, especially Italians, used to consider Robins very good to eat (my uncle was fond of Robins though he was Russian). Robins were almost brought to extinction because they were so good to eat and were hunted so avidly. It is now illegal to shoot Robins, and they are making a good come back. But it’s still legal to find gold coins…..

The bottom line is: there's gold coins in the dirt out there, we just got to find it! :peace:
