Exsquid, Pipster and Me

Howdy Folks!
Guess we got so focused on hunting we failed to get any photos, but Exsquid came out here from Indiana to join Pipster and me for a bit of hunting. 2 of 3 hunts were real short, and the 3rd was not terrible long either because Larry was here on business, but had evenings available to hunt.

I met him at the airport and we dropped down to baggage to grab his gear. Then we dropped down another level to where I'd parked nearby. We loaded up and headed out to his hotel so he could get checked in. Then we went out hunting for awhile. It should have been much longer but I was hurting around the knee area after my visit to the doctor and he had me do a squat that proved painful later in the day. But that's another tale.

Our first afternoon/evening was a shortish hunt and we hit several locations nearby where I've usually had good luck nailing down gold. We didn't get any, and there really wasn't that much clad either.

My take was:
12 Quarters = $3.00
2 Nickels = $0.10
4 Dimes = $0.40
5 Pennies = $0.05
Total = $3.55
Coin Count = 23 Coins.

But we had fun anyhow. On that same hunt, I found an Irish coin that was minted prior to the Euro coming along. I can't find it now, but figure it must be in one of my pockets somewhere. I also found a Canadian dime and a 1945 wheat penny. There was also some kid type jewelry items.

The next day, Pipster was off work and we went out in the late afternoon and Pip scored a 14k gold bracelet! It was at a school that usually locks up their tot lot so we can't hunt there but caught it open and hit it hard. Pip had the luck of choosing the right side of the tot lot to score the gold! While we were there, Larry called to say that his business meeting was done and he was free to hunt. So we packed up and headed downtown to fetch him.

We hit quite a few locations that evening, and Exsquid got a nice silver necklace at one spot. I hoped he'd find some gold to take home, but he seemed happy to find silver. Anyhow, even so long as we hunted (somewhere around 5 or 6 hours) that was still sorta short by my standards.

My take was:
29 Quarters = $7.25
7 Nickels = $0.35
21 Dimes = $2.10
50 Pennies = $0.50
Total = $10.20
Coin Count = 107 coins.

Also found an earring, a couple of cheapie kid type jewelry items and a ring. My best find of the night was a badge. When I picked it up, it looked real and had weight to it. But the size looked smallish. Like maybe it was designed to be worn on a lapel. My first inclination was that it was a fake or replica. But when I examined the website for the Federal Air Marshal's service, I discovered that this badge is totally real!

That turned out to be my best find of the three days we hunted together. When asked if I'd turn that badge in to the Federal Air Marshal's service, I thought of all the questions I'd end up having to answer, so I ain't made up my mind yet. It surely is a strange item to find on a tot lot, and both guys were there to witness my find that evening.

Anyhow, Larry had another business meeting the next day, and Pipster was off so we waited to hear from the squid! (LOL!) He called before 1:00pm to say he was ready to head out, and we rode to the hotel to fetch him for his ride back to the airport. But he had about 3 hours to play, so we went hunting at some different site and scored just a little more. None of us found much and were trying to move from site to site quickly.

That last hunt was my least productive. My take was:
8 Quarters = $2.00
8 Nickels = $0.40
10 Dimes = $1.00
22 Pennies = $0.22
Total = $3.62
Coin Count = 48 Coins.

After we hit a park tot lot on our way east, we headed to Denver International Airport and parted company with Larry.

We surely enjoyed his visit with us, and our shared hunts. Both Pipster and I are looking forward to our next outing together, and hope Larry can come back again real soon to see if we can finally send him back to Indiana with gold in his pocket. As it stands, both guys done better than me! Pipster got the gold, Larry got the silver, and I got a Federal Air Marshal badge between visits to the airport on Larry's behalf!

There's an irony in there somewhere, but I just can't quite pin it down! LOL!

Blessings,
