So, I was in MA this weekend for my son's hockey tournament (they took 2nd and my kid got thrown out at the end of the semi finals). Across the street from my fathers house, there's an old school that;s been boarded up for many years. I have been there and my brother has been there and found a few silvers, but haven't spent much time there.

I had an hour to kill so I went over. I found a wheat, a live round and a few coins, but the deep signals were non existent. I did hear a good sound with the warble although each swing turned to a null. There was on small direction where the sound came through and pinpoint didn't work 'cause it pulled me to the iron. I have found many coins like this; taking a small chance (the digging is easy out there).

So because I got the sound in 2 directions from one angle, I dug a plug. Pulling 6 or 7 of dirt out was very east, 1 shovel full, and I saw the remnents of a large green disc. I thought, wow, I expected a merc or something, not a LC, but this is what I had in my hand.

THis needs to soak in some oil for a bit, but I am going to say its a coronet head, probably ~ 1830, but I will let my forensic coin friends help me decide.

I was very happy as this was the 1st dig at the site and there weren't many.

Hope you all have a great MD year!

Hh

congrats on the large copper Aaron :clapping: :clapping: and don't worry i won't tell George you sneaking from his Mass. copper reserves now. lol lol it looks like the reverse from the matron head variety so that would make it from 1816 to 1839 . congrats again

Very, very nice on the LC. You definitely got an oldie there! <:
It sure is nice when one of those comes out for you. She is a little rough,
but as long as you can ID her... :happydance01:

That's it Dan...these NY guys are sneeking over the border now lol But they are leaving the silver and taking the greenies, so I guess it's OK rofl Nice surprise on the copper Aaron. thumbsup01 If you only have one good signal to dig, a copper ain't a bad result :clapping: Kid got kicked out of the game huh? :thinkingabout:

Kid got kicked out of the game huh? :thinkingabout:

yeah. let's just say there was a bit of an altercation in front of the next, then next to the net and finally near the locker room........you know these Mass. boys take their game seriously.
