Hey diggers,

I got permission to hunt two houses. One was 1903 and the other was 1899. They were chock full of goodies! Check out this amazing Barber dime I found. It's my best one yet. I'm thinking it would grade XF or better. What do you think? I also got my first sterling spoon (it's a baby spoon). Check out the dog tag. I've never seen one where the gender of the dog is listed. Thanks for looking, HH.

You're a silver magnet in 2011! That park has been good to you, but these private homes (likely never hunted) have been GREAT to you! Hope you're able to get permission to hunt a dozen more just like these. Congrats :perfect10:

That is a great hunt. Lots of cool stuff. I would give that Barber an XF 40 (or a bit more too lol) Looks like it was a lot of fun to hunt!!

Congrats, that looks like a fantastic hunt! You sure have been getting on to some great yards lately! Are they people you know or are you just cold calling? I have cold called before, but ran in to a bit if a bad slump last year so I stopped. The Barber is awesome!

Yes, cold calling. After I explain my hobby and ask their permission, I tell them about how exciting it is for me to dig up the old coins. They see my enthusiasm and they start to get excited too. I show them all my finds from their yard and tell them the interesting tid-bits about our coinage. The next thing you know, they are sending me to the neighbors or offering me wine! I don't know why it works, but it does.
