Howdy Folks!
Okay, so I ain't been around awhile. Sorry about that. I had a week after Exsquid left Denver that my knee was really giving me trouble. The next week I just plain felt poorly in general. The reason my knee was hurting was because I had a final visit with the workman's comp doctor, and he had me do a squat. That was the first time I'd done it without holding onto something, and I went down a bit farther than expected. So for the next week, my leg felt pretty nasty.
After feeling poorly the following week, I was surprised to find a settlement check in the mail and took the wife out shopping with me. We bought ourselves some toys! Since she works at the sheriff's office and deals directly with inmates, I felt she should have a weapon for personal defense. So, I got her a nice little Smith and Wesson model 642 .38 calibur handgun and holster. That little pistol is equipped with Crimson Trace grips so she has the luxury of laser aiming.

While I thought an automatic would be a better choice, she can't seem to pull the slide on an auto so a revolver was the logical choice.
Speaking of revolvers, I decided I should also get myself a new toy. I have wanted a Taurus Judge for awhile now, and got me one at the same time we got her pistol. The Judge, of course, fires either 410 shotgun shells or .45 Colt longs.

The downside of a Judge however is that concealed carry ain't all that easy. So a couple of days later, I got myself a nice new Springfield Armory XDm compact in .40 calibur. I've been carrying that particular weapon when away from home. Colorado being an open carry state, I have been out and about with my new pistol while running errands.

The XDm will get some breaking in time on the range today, and I'll be bringing the wife with her .38 to get some practice with her pistol as well. The XDm is a nice little pistol, and much easier to carry than my Ruger P94 .40 cal.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Ruger. It just ain't as easy to conceal as my XDm.

Next we plan to take the CCW classes with a deputy from the sheriff's office. While most instructors have good certification, this guy has both state and federal certifications that make him a notch higher on the food chain. When we pass his class, the sheriff will know we got the best instruction available in the area. That will ultimately make getting our CCW permits even easier. Of course, it doesn't hurt that my wife works for the Sheriff herself! LOL!
The point being, I haven't been hunting very much at all these past 3 weeks or so. We also had remodel work done on both bathrooms, and that took a heap of time too. Like 2 entire days.
However, I do expect to get myself some hunting time in this weekend, or at least on Saturday. I am back to working full shifts now, but only like 3 days per week thus far. I feel I'm ready for a normal 5 day work week again, and would just as soon get about it.
Blessings,
