I finally got permission to hunt a private school/church. The 80 acres they own dates back to 1849. I've been working with the custodian and historian of the property for two years now trying to obtain permission. They recently reorganized and now the custodian is in charge of making the decision to let me hunt. My only limits are no hunting the school area when school is in session. They also want me to keep a log of my finds and turn in any historical artifacts. I get to keep the coins and jewelry. I've spent about 5 hours hunting so far. I've been free styling, as I like to call it, to try and get a lay for the land. My first good find was a 1862 British Half Penny at 6 inches it's a little larger than a quarter and gave me an Indian head reading. I also found 2 1948-S Rosies, 2 Mercs 19 & 36, and 3 wheats. This should be a good summer project. The oldest part and the area I found the silver is near the school so I will have to wait until school is out to do some girding.
