Counterfeit. crying01

Got in an hour of swing time at the park tonight before it was too dark to see into the hole. lol

This was a deep target, probably 9-10. I think it is made of lead.

Were these made as actual counterfeit coins, tokens or some other purpose? It is the same thickness and diameter
of a normal half dollar.

Found some real silver too.

Plus a Sterling ring.

A nice way to end the day. :)

Great finds Joe. I would take a counterfeit over a real one anyday!! :clapping: Yes, they were made to deceive and were made from a white metal (lead +) so that it would pass as the real thing. Great find. I would definitely put it in the display case. |)

Sure doesn't even come close to a real one when dropped on a table. Real = nice high pitch ping. Fake = thud. lol

Still a great part of history! Made during the coin shortgages of the 1800s. Then again, they are still conterfeiting things...people are always trying to beat the system.

Nice finds :clapping:

I am curious what the process was for creating that fake coin. Lead is easy to melt, but how did they create a mold? Out of clay or porcelin or something?

Anyway, some very cool finds there! Thanks for sharing!
