headed up to a old house that i got permission to do.yard was difinitely worked over with new leach fields put in etc the owner told me with a lot of fill brought in.one brass spike,11 wheaties a bunch of clad and one lone injun 1892.also this shield type thing with the star.this is the 2nd one i dug like this and curious as to what they were used on?
then i decided to go back to my favorite church green,as usual it still produces! 3 ih's a pretty nice 1864 except for the back blob of corrosion.2 pieces of sterling.the wings ain't marked but its silver(probably was marked on the pin)
have a safe holiday all!

Very nice bunch of finds HMN. Any of the IH's fat ones?
Love the nice, rich black soil in many of these pictures. One of my favorite
things when entering a new site is what the soil looks like when digging the first hole.
When it is rich and dark... :smitten: . I figure original ground and old coins will follow.
I'm not a big fan of when my first plug reveals clay or clay/soil mix.
Congrats on a nice hunt. :clapping:

Hey nice hunt thumbsup01 Silver and a couple of nice Indians is all it takes to make it a great hunt. That shield thing may just be 1/2 of a hinge. That's kinda what it looks like to me. :dontknow: Maybe for a small jewelry box or something. Even though that green is not great for Indians, I still love seeing it after the plug opens up :smitten: lol
