Got out yesterday after the hurricane blew thru to a site that had been quite good to me over the summer, tho the pickins had been getting slim lately. I was looking for one more silver out of there to call it wrap for the year, but it wasn't to be -- 5 hours of hunting netted only 1 indian head (an 1879; missed it by a couple of years :crying02:) and a few wheaties. That was the last promising section I had left to grid. Fond memories nonetheless :smitten:, but a little frustrating way to end.

Needed to see some shiny stuff in the hole and had some time today to hit another site that produces sporadically -- the site is huge, trashy, and the ground is highly mineralized, and while its been hunted hard, I think the difficult nature of the site frustrates some, and means it can't be completely hunted out, especially for a good machine. I like sites like this, as they always seem to offer hope.

Started gridding next to sections that had produced in the past, but after 2.5 hours. only three wheaties and zero silver to show for it. >{

Decided to stop gridding and just wander the site a bit to work off my frustration, and hit a section with 3 wheaties quickly in succession. This was a section I thought might have promise, and after the quick wheaties, decided to set up shop there for some serious focus. Glad I did as I got 5 silvers in the next 2 hours happydance02, including a barber half. <: The site isn't really old enough for barber silver, so it was quite a surprise. :crazy: (Tho I have pulled a LC out of here in the past, so you never know)

HH everyone, and hope all you fellow east-coasters were spared Irene's wrath.

Great digs Randy! I'm one of those guys who is easily frustrated by the conditions you described. Clearly, I need to get over that!
