Hi everyone
i just found this site recently and have enjoyed all the postings. i started detecting back in the 70's and haven't looked back. i just recently upgraded from a mxt-pro to the v3i and i'm looking for all kinds of good info.

Welcome to American Detectorist, ironraven! Lots of history in southeast Ohio, should be good places to hunt there. If you've been detecting since the 1970s I bet you have some great stories to tell!

first settlement in ohio Marietta best find was a 1915 $5 gold coin about 50 yards from my house

Being more interested in finding a date than metal back in the 70s, I'd like to get your take on the relative difficulty of finding keepers across the eras. Have the machines improved at a rate that makes up for the 30-40 years of harvest? :groovy:
