Arrived at a site tonight with about an hour left of daylight. The area once was home to a late 1850's school house.
I found the site earlier this year but never made it out that direction to hunt it.

Ron and I started off in different directions trying to locate evidence of the school. We both hit promising signals about the same time.
I pulled an early wheat cent and he found a piece of an old pot bellied stove. A few square nails came up for me next confirming we were
in the right area.

Right before dark, I hit a nice high tone. Dug down about 8 inches to accept my first Civil War Store Card. <:
The business is listed in operation starting 1861 until 1882. Tyler was born in 1832 and retired in Virginia where he bought a large farm.

Have to admit... I didn't expect to find one of these in my area until DennisH found one here in town.
Then I thought it might be a possibility. I have been fortunate to find some nice tokens along the way,
but this is my favorite so far. :smitten:

Congrats on a first and a fine example it is. I to found my first Civil war store card this year at an old school site that is now just a farm field. I did not even know what it was at first I had to do a little research. For Wisconsin or anywhere in the Midwest they have to be rare I do not see many post of CV store cards. Mine is not even close to the condition of yours but it is still one of my all time favorite finds.
