Hey everyone! :groovy:
Well the temps are dropping and the inevitable is just around the corner. Thats right. :frozen: Old Man Winter is near :crying02: lol
I recently got permission for two new church sites. This was my second trip to this site. The first time I went Jeff Fire Fighter 43 came down from Wisconsin to come hunt it with me. The first trip only produced 2 coins. And Jeff found them both! lol thumbsup01 I figured there has to be more there. There is a lot of iron in the ground. I think they might have burned this church down  :dontknow: But this time I was able to make a couple of decent finds!

1860's Church Site (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK0m_G2wHL4#)

My first coin from this site right outta the ground. A Shield nickle!! <:

Obverse cleaned up

Coming out of a field of course it's about shot  >{ :crying02:
Can't make out a date. But since it has the rays it can only be one of two years.
It's either a 1866 or a 1867 since it has the rays! That makes this my oldest nickle! <: :happydance01:

I also found a thin, gold plated wedding band.
It's even stamped 18K lol

You just couldn't stand the fact that I found a 1868 Shield nickel so you went out and searched and searched until you could beat me! :girlcry:

That's really an excellent find Tim! There has to be at least one silver coin there for you to find. Best wishes buddy!

That shield nickel is a fantastic find, Tim! :loveit:

Those aren't unearthed too often! It actually didn't clean up too bad, I've seen some shield nickels that were a lot worse!

Good job on the terrific recovery! :clapping:

You know you are hunting a fun spot when the truck can be parked in the grass. lol

The nickel is an incredible find. Especially such an early one. crying01 There's got to be an early silver waiting there.
