Today I got together with heavymetalnut for a little colonial hunt. We have hunted this field a few times in the past and have done very well. Alot of buttons and now 8 coppers from this field, and a little half reale. Today was brutal, the wind was enough to make a grown man cry and the ground was frozen solid for the most part. The bottom of my heel is bruised from POUNDING on my shovel breaking through the manure frost. I had an awesome time today, scored a nice 1834 Matron head, buttons,an early dog tax tag, a lead seal, and a neat sash buckle. Thanks for lookin folks!

Wow Jess! :shocked01: You guys scored some sweet, sweet finds!
I think I'd put up with a little manure too for some finds like those!
Especially the Reale!  :clapping: Sweet find right there!
The LC is really nice too! Especially for coming from a corn field! :clapping:
Awesome hunt!
Congrats!
Are you able to get a date off of the dog tax? :->

The dog tax tag has a date of 1903 on it.

We've been lucky with the temps....i guess manure freezes before the ground.
That was a super productive hunt you had. I'd stand in poop with sub zero wind chills for those finds too. Look on the bright side, the temp probably held the smell down.

That was a great hunt, Jesse! Very nice finds, especially that 1834 Large Cent! :loveit:

Any chance that you can post a better photo of it? It looks to be a really sharp coin!
