well the camera i was given is not going to work very well do any of you have some tyres of cameras to use the one i had did not get in close to show detail on coins any help from you guys would be apprecated dennis

you need a camera with macro on it to get thoe's close ups and show detail..

Yep, JT is right. The macro really works well. The higher the megapixel, the better too. Then, upload the pic to your computer, crop it, enlarge it and Voila', you have awesome coin photos! thumbsup01

this one has a macro but it is not adjustable that is the difference i think does anyone know of a few good brands that they would reccomend thanks dennis

I use a simple Cannon SureShot. Works for me. I have an Android phone that also takes good pic's

the light is brighter than i would like and it cannot be adjusted, but overall it takes good closeup pictures.

I use a sony 7.2 megapixel with macro,here is one of my finds.

I have a digital Kodak C195 14 mega pixels. I have to do a lot of experimenting with the zoom. I find better pic quality by not zooming in very much, but by physically bringing the camera closer to the object. Very imp with my camera to push button halfway down before snapping a shot, to allow it to focus. Does your camera have that option? I didn't catch what kind you bought... Also, natural lighting works much better for me!
