I haven't tried one yet, but I may need something soon. lol The ones I have seen in pictures, look a bit cheesy and cumbersome. I'd love to see and try one out in person. Then I would probably buy it.

I have one and I used it quite a few times. When I was swinging the DFX and I knew I would be hunting for around eight hours I wore the sling. PRO'S; takes the weight off your md especially when using a large coil. You don't have to be careful where to set your machine down as it just hangs by your side. Enables you to hunt a lot more hours than you would without.
Cons: It is uncomfortable after a period of time. It has the tendancy to get in the way from time to time. You get the feeling you are in a straight jacket after a few hours of wearing it.
I personally feel that if you will be out hunting for more than four or five hours it is definately worth the money. There are several styles out on the market. I would look into the one that has a suspender clip that hooks to the rear wasteband of your jeans. That will keep it in place better and it will not be as uncomfortable. Hope this helps.

I made one last year from straps from a pouch I had/ a small bungy cord for easy unhooking. Works great on level ground, but not too great on hills. You can hardly feel the weight on your arm. Since having pain on my left side from Lymes Disease, it's helped alot.

I'm getting to that age now lol But so far I'm too stubborn to give in. Nothing a warm soaking can't fix yet. But the machine are getting heavier, (or so it seems). sooner or later, I'm gonna need something.

You should try your detector with a shoulder mount. All you have to swing is the weight of the coil. Have been using this setup since the late 70's. Check the link

The hipstick looks like a pretty cool helper! Im not at the point yet where I need it. Even after 6 hour hunts I still feel pretty good. happydance02
