Hi, all, been out detecting quite a few times in this spring like winter. Found the usual silver coins, indian heads, v nickels, etc. But, Angel said people would like to see these 2 pieces. A King George III copper 1775 and a civil war button - Massachusetts Artillery. Hope you enjoy the pics.

That is a very cool button, I hope someone can ID that for you, very interesting. I am no button expert, but I also would say much older than Civil War era.

The button has a plain back, the loop is missing.
The copper on the reverse is just as nice. It's great how dry soil will preserve copper. Unlike wet acidy loam.

all the button makers they list with that front are from around 1808 to 1820 but i would say its definately a War of 1812 era one ...

as far as the coin .... its a very good one , yeah i bet that one didn't come from a clay ridden park here in New England |:cheering:

Two mind-blowing finds if you ask me, John! Especially for us folks here in the midwest who never get to find stuff like that! I am glad you posted them. The button does indeed look like a rare and valuable one!

Hey, Nice button ! I never saw one with a coin back. That's really cool ! The King George Copper is nice as well. Just think of the historical value on that one, One year before the signing of Ummm.... What was that document that was signed ? LOL . Oh yea, The Declaration of Independence . In terms of how much is it worth, probably a 10 spot on Ebay.
