on the same field ive been finding all the coppers and capped half dime ive been finding bits of this item all over the place.on the field,behind trees and other places,all the pieces are sometimes 30 or 40 yards apart.
theres a lock and on the front of the cup shaped bit i can pick out a bit of a name.....somthing jr.
any idears ?

very interesting Lee , its definately a small padlock but the other pieces is unclear . i can only suggest you keep the pieces together in a box and if you find any more you might be able to id it .

This may help. The piece you have that has the JR on it, is from a hubley TEXAN JR cap pistol.
