Please join the American Detectorist staff in congratulating abucooche for his American Detectorist Best Jewelry of the Month award! The title is bestowed upon him for his Jesuit Ring (http://www.americandetectorist.com/forum/index.php?topic=8919.0).

Here is some information about the Jesuit rings:

The Jesuits made IXXI rings in the 17th century: Hundreds of these Jesuit rings were recovered from the wreck of La Belle, Louis XIV’s ship that left La Rochelle (the Templars’ port) in 1684. It was La Salle’s ill fated expedition, the same man who two years before claimed the Mississippi River valley for the Sun King, naming the territory Louisiana in his honor.

In recognition of his achievement, the following award will be displayed below his avatar until the end of the month. The award and winning find details will also be listed on the Awards page (http://www.americandetectorist.com/forum/index.php?topic=8488.0).

Congrats on the well-decerved award, abucooche!

What a historic ring! I don't recall an older piece of jewelry ever being posted on this forum before. It boggles the mind to think of who might have handled and worn this ring over 300 years ago!

Wonderful find! :clapping:
