i got permission today to detect the back yard of a house two doors down from mine today.
the house was built in 1844 and here is what i found. along with a lead soldier from i think ww1 i got this button and a really odd thing with rubys for eyes and this neat box thingy....its got hinges and has some weight to it, cant get it all the way open but i can see theres nothing in there
think i might need to pull del out of my basement where ive had him tied to a chair for the last three weeks waiting for just this moment when i find somthing i think is old.
anyway heres the pics

That box is [size=1:crazy:t]SWEET! And i like that button too. I think the thing with the red eyes is a lion. Looks like you had a great hunt at that old house.

Hey Lee , nice group of relics :clapping: :clapping: the button looks like a sports blazer type ( with the crossed golf clubs) i presume the back is very rusted  very cool lead toy soldier :smitten: . the small copper-alloy box is a great looking piece , it could either be military related item or just an item that had a very patriotic motif displayed on it . regardless the eagle is the older type and was used just after the federal period (1830's) to just after the Civil war era but just what it was used for one could only speculate , nice finds |:cheering: |:cheering:.

Perfect title! thumbsup01
That looks like one fun hunt!
The button is cool and the eagle compact thingy is very interesting! :thinkingabout:
But I dig the lead soldier  And he's even got both of his feet and legs thumbsup01 Most I've noticed will have a missing foot or base or something.
But your is in really good shape! No apparent war wounds lol And boy....that lead paint sure does hold up pretty good don't it! lol
Cool hunt Lee thumbsup01
Congrats!
