Today, Me, Tim, Don, and Dan went to our field of dreams. We hunted together for about 4 hours and got some nice finds. This was by far my most productive day in the copper department! Tim ended up with two Large Cents and a merc. Don got a Large Cent. Dan got a really nice sterling belt buckle. I ended up with 3 large Cents...an 1820, 1845, and an 1852. I also got an Upper Canada trade token from 1833. I got an 1863 Civil War Token, a store token from Cincinnati, and a Jap Rose soap token. My last find was an 1882 Indian Head that was on top of the ground! OK...Now! What in the world is that large copper coin:huh: It measures 35mm and is the same thickness as a large cent... but, much bigger than a large cent! I'm baffled, so I hope that someone that digs more coppers than I do can tell me what it is:huh: Here's the pics!

AWESOME finds! I'm no expert but I think that is a British Cartwheel coin. I saw a guy on youtube find a couple (pondguru, I think). Seems like they have a big border and are from the 1700s? (if memory serves me right). I'm probably wrong though. Great finds, Dave.

That sure is a field of dreams. Nice copper scores. A sterling buckle is a great find. And I found out what a cartwheel coin was.....

Spot on Daddy! It does indeed look like a British Cartwheel Penny of George III. Best news of all. They were only issued for one year date! 1797 it is! HH Buddy!
