I got out three nights this week. Monday I hit a big, well hunted tot lot with my son. I'm usually lucky to land more than 5 or 6 coins at this spot, but they had just pulled out a piece of equipment so I was able to pull a good number of coins from where it had been, as well as a small silver pendant.
Tuesday I hit a local park and only toward the end of the hunt did I wander into a spot that gave up a few wheats in quick succession. I headed back there Wednesday night to give that area a more thorough once over. It paid off with a few Rosies right off the bat, followed by a small silver ring. At one point I got a nice tone but it was a little low for silver... I was expecting a zinc penny or something. I pulled the plug and there was an odd sight encrusted in dirt... it looked like silver, and it looked like a coin, but it was thin, and an odd size - bigger than a dime but smaller than a quarter. My mind raced wondering what it could be... all I could think of was some kind of old Spanish silver or something. But it turned out to be a squashed silver Rosie... maybe next time! Three silver dimes and a ring still made my night.
Total for the three evenings was 104 coins worth $7.88 including the three Rosies and 11 wheats.
I'm headed back to NH for Easter and hopefully will have time for a quick hunt with my dad. Here's hoping we score something good!
