A couple of weeks ago I hunted in an old park that I had never been to before and found a lone 1880 Indian Head and a 1920 Wheat Cent. Today I decided that there must be more there so I made the 45 minute drive back to the park. I got there at about 9:00 a.m. and fired up the E-Trac.

After about an hour of hunting I found an Indian Head, and a few minutes later a 1912-D Barber Dime. By this time I'm starting to think that it might be a good day. In the next hour I just found a few wheat cents and some clad. Then I wondered over by the playground equipment where I found four more Indian Heads in pretty quick succession. Then some kids showed up to play so I moved away from that area. (Don't want to make the kiddies or their parents nervous with my activities or my digging tool.)

As soon as I settled into a new area of the park I found a really nice 1911-D Barber Dime, then about ten minutes later a 1907 V Nickel. By then my arm was about wore out so I headed home. Quite a fun day of detecting! I am sure that I will be hitting this park some more.

The battery is going dead in my camera so please forgive the quality of these photos. The color is off on some of them.

Here are my keepers for the day:

Here are the five Indian Heads: 1892, 1896, 1903, 1905, 1907

The 1911 Barber Dime is a beauty.

Here is the reverse of both Barber Dimes:

I also found this ugly sterling silver ring. Silver is silver, I guess!

I hadn't been out for a week and I was going through withdrawals! Today's hunt was just what the doctor ordered! Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Great digs! Those Barbers are in some great shape. And I love the nice green patina the pennies get... around here they mostly seem to turn red or black and corroded.
