Where did this come from?

Detecting and old homestead yesterday, I dug this at about 6 inches.

I think it's maybe brass, or copper, and is about 1/8 inch thick. It has a slight curvature, like it was attached to a round object.

The house was built around 1870 and has been gone since the 30's, if that will help.

It may be a tag from a Simplex sewing machine.
