After experiencing yesterday's rain and cold wind, today I was going to chicken out and stay home. I didn't learn my lesson though because I was soon heading to one of the local parks. :duh:

During yesterday's hunt I dug up just one silver coin, a 1951 Roosevelt dime, but it was enough to keep the silver streak going. Today was much better though as I dug up five silver coins, a Barber quarter dated 1895, three Barber dimes, dated 1899, 1902, and 1906, and one mercury dime, dated 1919. The park also yielded two large cents, but only one, dated 1830, is in fairly good shape.

Here is the 1899 Barber dime as it came out of the ground.

And here is my two day silver take.

It's hard to see large cents take such a beating from the soil, but they still do make for fun finds.

The wheat cents I dig up at this particular park tend to be dated in the teens and twenties, as most of these are.

Nice haul of Barbers. I think that park had a lot of use around the teens and twenties from the condition of them coins. All that plus 2 coppas too lol Nice dig.

It's a pin. I suspect it is silver - it 'feels' like it, and looks like it - but it has no markings.

The park did see plenty of activity in the early 1900's. The field was layered with new soil several years ago, so the old coins are on the deep side.
