new england hay field

I was detecting a hay field this morning. It looked like it was mowed yesterday. Could they have hayed it already? I mowed my lawn for the first time last Sunday......and...there were NO ROCKS in this field. The field was about 15 acres. I found some 70s dimes and quarters. It seems like they brought in top soil to cover the entire field. Do they do this? There was one wall ....on one side of the field...another aberration. Let me restate....there were no rocks :grin:

Drew some hay is chopped into grass silage and can be taken care of real fast. So yes they probably just chopped it wet in stead of going through the process of making dry bails of hay.
