I recently received permission to hunt an area that was once a farm in 1880. They trained horses here as well and they would have practice runs on a make shift race track that folks would pay a nickle to watch.

I made my first attempt at hunting this site yesterday after work. At first I started around the original farm house foundation but there was way too much iron and trash to contend with so I decided to move to the field where the practice race track once stood. Considering I only had two ours of day light before I started, I felt I could hunt the farm house foundation when I had a full day to weed through all the trash.

The targets were far and few between near the track but my second diggable target turned out to be an 1898 IH that was in very good shape. A few sqaure nails , a musket ball, and two clad coins later I decided to head out due to darkness.

I always swing my M6 on the way back to the car and once again it paid off with a deep dime/qtr signal at 9.5-10 inches. I was a little surpised to uncover my 3rd Draped Bust of the year with a date of 1803 obviously pre-dating the farm by 77yrs.

I always have my camera so I recorded the two digs.
