Grove Hunting Success! (Pics Added)
« on: March 12, 2012, 03:29:52 pm »
I haven't posted much for a while, but have had some success. We've been focusing on hunting old groves in our area and spend a ton of time researching and gaining permission to hunt these places. Last night, Me, Tim, and Roy got to hunt a grove that really paid off! I will post pictures later, but I will show you the video that Tim took of the adventure. We hunted 12 hours yesterday at two different groves and pulled some really nice finds. We all ended up with 5 silver each and numerous indians with several V nickels. My oldest find was 1880 and my newest find was a 1917 merc. This was by far the most fun hunting in a long time! Finally, all the research paid off! Here's the video! Enjoy!

Great stuff Brian, you guys "tore up the pea patch" on that hunt. Man watching Tims video it seems like you would find something and then someone else would find something real close, dont you just love those kind of spots?  ^_^

The way you guys were digging keepers I would have set up floodlights and gone thru the night. Always a pleasure to watch a hunt like that.

Got the pics added.  The young Vickie is an 1882.  The ring is tiny, like for a baby I think.  It wasn't cleaned yet in the picture, there is no corrosion on it.  It was about 6 inches deep.

Great hunt Brian! You need to go back there on a regular basis. That place is full of stuff. I found the Silver twin to that ring last year. Very nice.
