Hi all,
finally had a chance to detect for a little while at a friends house where it dates to early 1800's.Near a large tree in the yard I had a nice repeatable signal and out pops a nice button.Tell me what ya think? Militia?

NY seal button. Very nice
Very nice button !
NY staff button from the civil war, very nice, does it say extra quality on the back?
Wow that's a dandy!
The back says waterbury button co.
wow :loveit: Tom thats a very nice civil war era New York officer's button and it looks like it still has lots of gold gilt under the dirt. great button :clapping::clapping:
I was shocked at the condition too. Not deep at all,4" down.I think if I spend some time in the yard I'll find some old silver as well.
you seldom see them "biscuit" type buttons with out any dents or pushed in areas , I know the two similar New York buttons I have are both damage and or stripped of all their gilt . thats a very nice example sir .:clapping:
Very nice Civil War Era NY Staff button. Beautiful condition!!! :wow:
Great button and in awesome condition. Agree that with proper cleaning you may be able to see more of that golden gilt.

I found one of these a bit over a month ago. Does have the extra quality on the back
