earring? civil war?

Not sure what this is or how old. Would appreciate anyone that would give me some insight on it. Thanks.

I'm thinking that the earring is from 40's or 50's, and how did I come to that conclusion....I asked my wife.

I'd say it definitely is a clip style ear ring, but probably a 20th century modernist design. Maybe someone knows for sure.
