I looked up Chas Rettig and think I found him: Born Feb 8, 1875 Died Sept 1, 1968 from Hamilton Co, Ohio. He was 93 yrs old and his SS# 296-22-0841 The internet is amazing :shocked04:stretcher:
I had a Red Book in my car, but kept hunting for about an hour- enjoying the anticipation of not knowing the value . I had a feeling it was something special :)Quote:

Very nice coin. I notice that it was vertical in the plug. I know when I dug the standing liberty it was vertical and drove my detector crazy. I had a heck of a time just pin pointing it. Great find, and in amazing shape. <:
That Seated is sure a beauty! Congrats on a great find!
Just a spectacular seated dime, Tana! I am very happy for you! A find like that would make my year! I wouldn't sell it but that's just me, I'm a hopeless packrat. It would bring a smile to my face every time I looked at it.
I'm not sure if I'll ever find anything that cool but I'm going to keep trying!
Congrats on the wonderful find! :clapping:
8/ You're right- I bet that's why it was all over the place! I'm pretty new to this... (2 yrs) I've prob missed quite a few coins on their sides :crying02:Quote:

I tend to dig just the good solid signals, even if they are prob pop tabs or zilcolns. Could be gold rings or IHs! I need to learn my V3i better... keep meaning to read more and try some different programs
Thanks! It's my second one ever  And still haven't found a Barber :-\ Lots of mercs though!Quote:

Thanks Tony! I see your goal of the year :) I am a hopeless packrat too. I've never sold any of my MD finds or any of my arrowheads from 20 yrs of hunting either :cheesysmile:Quote:

i cant say anything that wasnt already said! i would love to find such a coin ....a big congrats to you! well done!! :groovy:
Now that's a hunt to remember!
I have yet to find any 1800's silver let alone a rare seated. You hit the jackpot!
Beautiful coin Tana well deserved find. That plate with a name is very likely a old charge plate for a dept store or someplace similar. That is the way they looked you presented it like you used to do with a charge card and they made an imprint.
Thanks, this is only my 2nd 1800's silver - the other is a seated dime (1877cc). It sure is a rush, makes you want more lol I love the large cents, only found 2 of those as well (1820 and 1833) I love the old stuff... Good luck to you in your next hunt!Quote:
