We hunted an old abandoned farm house today and found this in the back yard. it seems to be made of copper.
Any idea what this is or what it was used for?

Nice tag Don. :congrats:. It is pretty good sized piece of copper. Any idea how old it may be?
thats a great looking tag Don , its either a passenger luggage or baggage claim tag or even a large cargo tag .
Not sure what it is but I think Del may be right, nice find and congrats.
Don, those things are worth money! Very collectable. Sweet find
That's a great find, Don. The Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad was bought out by Illinois Central RR. The logo on your RR tag was used from 1896 to 1923. I found one just like it over 5 years ago along the railroad tracks where a tiny town once was up until the early '30s when the local lake was created.

Don, I did not clean it with anything except water. As far as value, not sure. I posted it in another forum a few years ago and someone provided an ad link to a very nice one that was being sold for the price of $155.
Hope these are better Del
Very cool find you got there Don  I always like finding the RR paraphernalia
Really nice find! :thumbsup02:
I love stuff like that Don. That is one heck of a find :congrats:
Wow, that's a terrific find, Don! And it cleaned up real nice too. I just love old railroad items! My dad was a railroader so it's in my blood, I guess.
Very cool find! :thumbsup02:
