Musket Trigger Guard?
Found this today at a peanut field I have permission on. It is brass with an iron trigger and would measure about 7"s long if straight. It is missing a piece at the front. Half a screw hole remains. I can make out the numbers 0 2 on the back of the tang. They are upside down in the first picture. Any help IDing what gun it came from would be greatly appreciated.

Nice trigger guard but I'd say pretty hard to ID what it came off of.

there are a few different models that look close , some of the Springfield rifles and the Mississippi type rifles

According to Al Frasca, who is very knowledgeable in this area, my trigger guard is most likely from a Springfield carbine and that explains the lack of a provision for the sling swivel on the bow. The carbine had a slide ring on the side of the receiver.

The search is back on! I misread Mr. Frasca's e-mail. This guard is not from a Springfield. It is from a carbine or cadet rifle by some other maker.
