New machine finds history
Yesterday Donnie Ron and myself headed out to the woods to hit some well known sites and check on a couple of possible cabin sites . The weather was about perfect springtime temps , hiking is always good this time of year and I could use the exercise . On this particular excursion I had brought a new machine as my old DFX of 15+ years is getting pretty tired so I've been wanting some thing with newer technology and settled for a XP Deus Attachment 67941 . This machine takes a bit time to get use to the sounds ( like listening to a clown making balloon animals) at first especially coming from the flutie tones of the DFX , to say I was out of my element for the first few hours is an understatement . Donnie let me hear a few "good" targets to help me understand and train the ear to what I wanted to listen for , that is the character of a man of good quality right there . it helped a lot :yes: My top find for the Deus maiden voyage was a Revolutionary war British 62nd regiment button Attachment 67942 This button was most likely taken from a British prisoner's uniform after the capture of some 6,000 men at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777 or could of been a "spoils" taken from a continental soldier to remember battle and victory . Either way it is a remarkable piece of American history !
This spot where it was found is credited to Donnie's research and Ron's great eyes on spotting the cabin site where the button was found .
