Last Saturday I left early with my detector to get some time in before the ground gets too hard. So far, the weather has been mild in Michigan.
I hit a couple of spots including a park and one of...
I have started hunting a park in town that I have never detected. It used to have a school on the land which was torn down sometime in the early 90's and then turned into a green space for the...
This is about the best explanation I could come up with too.
I like the Canadian Largie!
Yes, that is correct. Bronze replaced the 88%Cu/12%Ni composition used on the earlier Flying Eagle and first couple years of IHP and was also used for the two-cent coin.
Yes, these factors do play a role in the in-ground readings but I find the detector readings in air tests to differ after the dig also. I am going to do some more tests with non-dug coins and see if...
This has been a question of mine for a long time. Most IHP are the same size standard and composition as the vast majority of wheat cents yet a metal detector identifies they with a considerable...
Looks like that here, too.
Like they say - wait a couple hours:thumbsup02:
Sweet find! Don't write off the possibility of older coins in the Midwest! Lots of trade and movement was happening when these coins were being minted! Definitely hit that site hard!
Nice digs! Do you know the age of the harmonica reeds? I found one fully intact with both reeds.
Thanks, Fire Fighter!
Does that count as a half dime?? It looks like it bought every piece of candy between Nevada and CT!
Nice one, and a CC too!
There does seem to be a ridiculous amount of change in the grass at this park. It is very popular in the summer but i havent heard of a coin scramble here. Obviously, something deliberate happened...
Went back to this park tonight for as short hunt. I searched this hole again and pulled 4 more Mem's from it bringing the total for this hole to 69!
Got out yesterday for about 4 hours and hit a close local park hoping for some jewelry but ended up having a fun day digging clad coins. This is a fairly "young" park, although I do dig an...
"Modulation = ON. I always had this OFF with the DFX. Now I find the difference in volume helps separate targets."
I had not thought about that before. I am fairly new to the DFX and I am...
Thanks for the reply. I don't hunt with modulation on so it makes sense that I don't hear them in motion mode.
I was thinking there was more to it! Keep it simple!
I am trying to identify exactly what people talk about when they are hearing whisper signals on the DFX.
Is this a signal that happens in motion mode or non-motion? I definately get the small,...
Thanks guys. Looking forward to detecting more now than I have in recent years. Upgraded to a Whites DFX in March and am loving it!
I started in 2006 with an Ace250 and found some goodies with...
I stopped by Plainwell yesterday and talked to Al for a while! He has so many great stories!
Hi, all. I see some familiar names here!
