Well, we weren't dead but the detecting conditions sure were! :crying01:

That is wonderful, Drew! It's crazy that finds like this are still out there on public lands! Clear date and both sides of the coin look equally good.

Congrats on your first Standing Liberty Quarters! They are one of my favorite coins to find and they don't turn up often. I've never found two in one day before. That's awesome! Be sure to check...

Were the two coins stuck together, Drew, or were they just in the same hole? Is the dateless one a Matron also?

I think you're probably onto something. Being a cultural item or regional fad would explain why we don't find them here in the Midwest. Certainly they used oxen here, I've seen them in many local...
Huge congrats on the platinum ring! That’s probably worth some bucks! I’ve never found any platinum.
:congrats:
Something else to ponder, why don't we find them here in the midwest? In 40+ years of detecting I've never found one, nor do I know anyone who's found one around here. Curious.
He’s done it again! :thumbsup01:
What an incredible pile of treasure, Dave! Wow! So many great finds that I don’t even know where to start! Is the second item a fibula? And that button looks...
Detecting time has been scarce for me so far this year but I was finally able to get out for some local door knocking this past Saturday. I am almost embarrassed to post these finds after the...
This is an awesome "feel good" story, Drew. I'm glad you didn't give up on finding an heir. Stories like this give all detectorists a better reputation.
:clapping:
That 1723 Hibernia is a thing of beauty, Drew! You did a good job of cleaning it and applying a nice coat of Ren Wax. It will be 300 years old next year! :shocked04: Crazy!
:congrats:
Congrats on the Nova Constellatio, Dan! That is a great photo of it! :loveit:
I had no clue on the cannon primers. Silly me, I probably would have thrown them away.
Wonderful finds, John! That Draped Bust still has amazing detail! The excelsior button is in great shape too!
The William III Half Penny has a nice patina even if it is very worn. Good job...
It looks like you are really becoming synchronized with the D2, Drew! Congrats on the Draped Bust! And wow, that musket ball is huge! :shocked04:
:congrats:
There's nothing like finding a seated coin, and when it's an older seated (with arrows!) it's even better! That one has seen a lot of circulation. If only it could talk!
The Canadian Fish Scale...
Wonderful finds, Don! These fields are really paying off for you. The possibilities are very intriguing. You could find some sweet bucket list items.
I found one of those Half Penny bank tokens...
Fantastic recovery of a tiny little coin, Drew! It still has wonderful detail and looks like it would clean up nicely if you were so inclined. You guys are making the Deus II sound like a real...
That's the kind of site us midwesterners can only dream about! :wow:
A five copper day? I've never even come close to a five copper year!
That tiny thimble is fascinating too. What a great...
That is an amazing quantity of old buckles! :shocked04:
You got really technical with your desciptions though, "straighties, weirdoes, curvies". Can you dumb it down for us plain folk?
Some examples of how it was used.

Congrats, Drew! Heck, anybody can find a round one! Yours is unique! ;)
Its shape is a head-scratcher. I wonder if it was used for something, or is this just random mutilation? Either way,...
Fascinating find! I would display it just like that with both pieces of wood. I wonder what the intended target was?
:congrats:
I think I have only done it once, on August 19, 2012.

Grand slam is secondary, you had an amazing hunt! Two silvers from the 1800s including an elusive Seated! You are killing it already this year!
