Yeah Drew I ran a bungy cord over my shoulder down to my belt. It definitely helped but not practical for woods hunting. I wasn't clever enough to think of a counterweight.

Making a detector heavier so it feels lighter ! Now that is some out-of-the-box thinking there brother. But your counterweight approach is probably the least annoying way to balance a detector....
Seems like a year but it's been a month since I have gotten out to swing the coil. But we got rain here in southeast MA yesterday and most of the snow is gone and none predicted for a week. I'll be...
Speaking of Merry Widows, I recall a post from some years back where someone was detecting at the grounds of a seminary and found a couple of dozen Merry Widows tins.
When a woman would get engaged, she would get a club, knock her man out then stomp him as hard as she could in the forehead. He would be branded for life with that heart and no other woman would have...
Wow what a story! Andersonville! I've been there. That place affected me like no other CW site. Good work Fyrffytr from finding it to returning it.
The pic I have is dated March of 2012. I joined AD in 2013. I don't see that I posted it on Friendly or T Net either. Since those were my days with the DFX, I am guessing I probably posted it the...
Drew it's a love token done on a silver Canadian Vicky 25 cent piece. Late 1800's.
Very clever Drew. I could only come up with a few similarly themed finds.

Primus was a great band. Those guys are whacky. Their videos were always off the wall.
Learned something new today! Yeah "go ahead and print your own money" probably not sound fiscal strategy.
"Notgeld" is something a stallion whispers in his filly's ear.
I've never done it. It always seemed like too much work to me and likely distracting from the enjoyment of the hunt. But a lot of detectorists do it so maybe I'm just lazy. I do enjoy watching...
I know a lot of people who like buttons and are very jealous!
Great recoveries there Donnie B!
Nice story. Could be true I suppose. Maybe that guy should get one of those $32,000 detectors and find all that ammo.
Operating modes Ionic / Bionic. What the heck does that mean? Doesn't matter. It's obviously alien technology. I want two of them.
Not meager at all. Eagle buttons are not common in many places. Nice find.
Oh man! Good for you!
I hear you Drew. When I retire I am going to invent a universal, fully adjustable detector shaft that will accommodate all brands and body sizes. ;)
Hey what is that find in the upper right?
Pleasant day indeed! Great find on the GVLIELMVS III! Is it a 1600's or 1700's ? Interesting set up you got there Drew. Most of us want to lighten our rigs. ;)
As Calabash says in his videos....you are starting to hurt feelings. More great finds Donnie B.
THAT is one of the coolest bottles I have ever seen posted.
Yeah you've got to love a find like that one. I've hit deep faint targets with an R=2 and when I went R=3 or higher, it just would not pick it up anymore. That's why I assume that deep CT was a nice...
Great button! Would love to dig one myself. A CT at 9" at R=5 !!! That is remarkable at a cellar hole lip. You lose significant depth with Reactivity cranked up that high especially with so much...
Nice hunt Rebel. You managed something from each of the 3 major food groups: coppers, buttons and relics.
Did the LC come from the park or the woods Drew?
Eagle Eye Two-Cent is pretty darn good with his ID's.
