The coil on my E-Trac went bad too. It was chattering endlessly. It was no longer under warranty so I had to buy a new one.

The reverse of that Shield Nickel is gorgeous! I would have left it just like that. The details really pop. I have found 10 Shield Nickels and only one of them has rays.
:congrats:
That was an awesome coin spill! Congrats on the semi-key 1896-S Barber Dime. It guides for $80 in G4 condition.
It's great that you are able to detect this time of year.
Terrific hunt! ...
The Large Cent has a line under "One Cent" on the reverse so it must be 1831.
Nice digs, Drew! :clapping:
Some insight on the subject from Andy Sabisch's E-Trac book:

Great finds, Dan! The Draped Bust Half Cent cleaned up well. Might it be 1803? Hard to read that last digit.
The cannonball and bar shot are awesome finds too! Both of those could wreak havoc...
I agree, whizzers usually only have two holes that are further apart. I think this is a button.
Good catch on the cloak clasp with a thistle on it! I'd say there is a chance that it is from the...
You have mastered the art of electrolysis, Dave! That hand grenade looks brand new. Can you imagine how dangerous it was holding an object like that in your hand when it's full of gunpowder and has...
That is the coolest Indian Head spill I've ever seen! They must have been dropped in the 1870s because that 1875 looks minty fresh! Wow, super old Indian spill. I have found two or three in the...
My brain was trying to convince me that it is part of a roller catch but my brain could be wrong. I couldn't find a match.

Sweet looking Barber Dime! :loveit: I love it when they have detail like this, and when they're from the 1800s!
The relic looks like it may have been attached to leather?
Merry Christmas to all of our members here! :grouphug:
 :lolsign:
Congrats on the beautiful 1917-D Type I Standing Liberty Quarter! :loveit:
That Allis-Chalmers token is very interesting too. I've never seen one of those before.
:congrats:
I'm definitely not an ammo expert either, but I do know that lead gets a white patina on it when it has been in the ground a long time.

That looks like a great day! Both the button and the Large Cent are very nice! Good photos. I'm glad you guys got together for a fun hunt.
Three silver coins and a silver ring is a nice hot spot indeed! What a fascinating site that must be with such a wide range of finds from the 1600s to present.
Good job, Drew! :clapping:
It is a great feeling when you get a 12-45 high tone at six inches deep. The likelihood of it being silver is very good.
Congrats on the shiny coin, Jack! I hope it put a smile on your face. ...
Huge congrats on the beautiful 1795 Two Reales! That is a dream find. Spectacular! :perfect10:
Wow, that WLH is a beauty! It must have been freshly minted when it was dropped. The thrill of seeing big silver in the dirt never goes away. Awesome!
:congrats:
I think you need to turn down the power on your coin tumbler, Drew.
Congrats on the NJ copper! Completing the state coppers is an incredible achievement!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Stay safe!
This is spectacular beyond words, Dave! I wonder what it was attached to and how it ended up in the woods? Of course, maybe there wasn't a woods there 400+ years ago. I love the hand-engraved...
Such an incredible piece of history saved from being lost forever! I am reading so many Deus success stories. It's great that a detector like this can open up pounded sites for new possibilities. ...
