CELLAR HOLE* 71st COPPER & SILVER

Went back up to the cellar hole I was told about by a hunter.6 coppers came out of this site 5 for me & sniffy got one. I also dug a 1773 spanish reale from this site.slow going some iron & shotgun headstamps I wandered way out back and got a nice solid 85 on the vdi at 6 inches.i was thinking copper no doubt.then i saw silver! nothing but colonial coins came out of this site & I was praying please let it be my draped bust dime please! a mangled barber then I headed further back to an adjoining cellar hole that was fairly quiet.spent 5 hours up here getting wet and got a axehead & one coin.a 1826 matron head.71 large coppers on the year this makes

yeah tell me about it.i was so sure it was gonna be a draped,or capped.how the hell does a barber get down 6 inches at a site like this when this site isnt even on the 1868 map and is so isolated in the woods with no sign of any road going into site, most of the coppers were 4-5 inches.just dont make any sense at all

Re: CELLAR HOLE* 71st COPPER & SILVER

Wow, Your on fire with the finds this year. Coins are strange, I found a 1753 and a 1754 KG Copper at about 3 inches once and another site found Barbers and IH's at 8 inches. Some say it's the metal weight. I don't believe in that. I believe it's the soil and if there's rocks in the ground. I went with Dan th last time and found a 2 Center where him and George have been finding older coins. I always say it's probably a hunter's drop.

Dave, coins and coin depth are a strange thing. I know that you must have been excited to see that silver in hole, I would have been especially since all the other coins were colonial. Either way, nice hunting and congrats on another copper.
