I found this little sweetheart yesterday and it doesn't have any markings in it. I thought it was silver because it was encrusted like most silver rings that have been in the saltwater for any length of time.

However, after doing electrolysis on it and cleaned it up, it isn't silver. A friend believes it's either 8K or 10K and I think he might be right. Unfortunately I don't have any acid for either . I have to find out if they even have acid for either. Anyone know if they have ?

Yes, they have acid for 10k 100% but I am a little unsure on 8k.
How many grams Frank?

Size 7 1/2, 4 grams A light weight for sure.

Still a neat find and hopefully it's 10k but It seems to be very pitted so it could be gold on silver. I have found jewelry marked gold on silver before :thinkingabout:

Actually it isn't pitted at all, nothing, nada,it's just the style of the ring.

In that case Frank, that is probably 10k. It's a good posibility and it is very cool looking :pirate:

I like the pistols on the sides.
Me too! That's cool!
And who wouldn't like finding some gold? ::huh:: lol
Sweet find!
Congrats!

Thats 10k for sure. It was probably sized and the marking was destroyed. Invest in a acid test kit. Its something every detectorist should have.
