Well, I just put in my order for the Garret AT Pro and can't wait to get it. I am in Michigan and do lots of short travels with my two teenage children. I'll start in my back yard and go out from there.

Welcome from SW Arkansas. I used my brother's AT Pro for a few hours earlier this summer. I'm going to stick with my White's XXX as my primary machine but thinking a AT Pro would would make a nice back-up or rainy day addition to this addictive hobby.

The AT Pro is a very good machine, so don't feel bad by choosing it. It has a lot of great features and once you learn it's language, you will be very happy with it. It is important that you enjoy and learn your machine. Picking good spots to hunt helps too lol It will be fun. Ok, got my detector.....wow. Lots to learn! Took it out a few times and dug and dug for foil! Read the manual 5x and watched the DVD about 10 times. All I can do is to keep going out to learn the machine.
Not many beaches in my area. I did hit two small ones and got rained out both times. Patience is a must
I want to shoot for Lake Michigan beaches. Went to fair grounds today for a bit but was rushing to get my son from band camp.
I'll keep you guys posted.
Been testing with different materials on my own.
Gonna take a while, that is for sure but I know once I get it done I am going to love this hobby!!!
